I learned how to make this delicious dish from my husband’s aunt. It’s called fruit chaat, and it’s very popular here in Pakistan. Most people use a store-bought dressing mix, which contains chilli powder, but I always try to avoid processed foods, so this recipe was perfect, and it is tangy without being hot. Some people add pomegranate seeds, which look great against the pale fruit.
It’s simple, healthy, and very tasty. It’s a good choice for the holidays because it’s light, crunchy and a good palate cleanser after a heavy meal.
Ingredients
4 large sweet apples, peeled
2 bananas, strings removed
2 large pears, peeled
1 cup seedless grapes
juice of 1 lemon
½ cup pineapple juice
¼ cup orange juice
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly gound black pepper
Preparation
The fruit should be firm and free of blemishes. Green Anjou pears are best.
Cut the apple in half and slice into wedges, then cut into small pieces, about half an inch in size.
Cut the pears in the same way, then slice the bananas. The grapes can be cut in half or left whole, as you wish.
Once the fruit is cut, mix gently with a serving spoon. Add the juices and the seasonings. Adjust according to taste.
Chill before serving.

That sounds yum!
